Airlines want to get passengers to their destinations on time, but sometimes may something makes it difficult for flights to arrive on time. Some problems, like bad weather that was supposed to improve instead it becomes worse, air traffic delays, and mechanical issues can turn out to be more complex than the airline originally thought.
Some of this problem are hard to predict and it comes unexpected, as we all know unexpected developments can cause a delay to be longer than anticipated.
Generally, the right of a passenger to compensation for a flight delay will depend on the length of the delay and the reason for the delay/cancellation.

You should put in mind that these compensations have rules which are:

- You must have a confirmed reservation on the flight that is delayed.
- You must have presented yourself for check in at the stipulated time, and if there is no time stipulated, then not later than 1 hour or prior to flight departure time.
