Rwanda

Rwanda, officially the Republic of Rwanda. Rwanda is a landlocked country in the Great Rift Valley where the African Great Lakes region and East Africa converge.

One of the smallest countries on the African mainland, its capital city is Kigali.

Rwanda is, by all measures, a poor country. The 1994 war obliterated the country's economy, social fabric, human resource base, and institutions. Almost 90 percent of the population lives on less than US$2 per day and half of its population lives on less than US$1 per day.

Rwanda is known for its breathtaking scenery, Rwanda is often referred to as le pays des mille collines (French: “land of a thousand hills”). The capital is Kigali, located in the centre of the country on the Ruganwa River.
